Rowell Reading Group meets every Sunday from 3.30pm to 5.30 pm at 109, Rowell Road, Little India, Singapore. Besides Tien and Jennifer who anchor Food #03 and the Post- Museum, there are regulars who take turns to choose the reading for each week – an article or a book chapter. The group is generally open to anyone who cares to join and is willing to take the time to read anywhere between 20 to 40 pages in any given week – just send an email by Wednesday if you want to join us on the following Sunday so that we can email you the reading selection. Readings are generally selected with a view to elaborate a Singaporean perspective on issues of global significance. For example, when we began in November 2008,  reading a detailed study by Joshua Comaroff that sought to interpret the hungry ghosts festival in Singapore as ritualized enactment of resistance against rapid restructuring of the urban landscape.
